The Gum Tree Run, directed by the Tupelo Running Club, is Mississippi's largest 10K. It is recognized by Runner's World and Running Times magazines.
Runners will be coming from all over the world, to participate in the annual classic as they have for almost 30 years.
Gum Tree 2007 has our traditional fast, flat USATF certified course (MS96-002-RH), with excellent traffic control and experienced teams of organizers that will make this weekend one of great fun. Runner's World has even named it Mississippi's best and one of the top 75 runs in the nation.
The ChampionChip timing system will be used again this year. All runners must pick up their chip between 7:00 and 8:00 am.
Registration Information
Pre-race registration is strongly encouraged.
Race day registration will be accepted between 7:00 and 8:00 am on the morning of the race, but we cannot be responsible for shortages in some T-shirt sizes.

Compete for your part of our $8,700 prize fund. First prize for overall male and female winner is $1,000. Money goes 8 deep in men and women open division, 3 deep in men and women masters division and 1 deep in men and women grand masters.
Prize money may be duplicated if winners qualifies in two or more cash prize catergories.
Prize money goes 3 deep in men and women wheelchair division.
Note: The acceptance of prize money will affect an athlete's amateur status.
Prize money will be mailed within 15 days of race.
Every 10K finisher receives a Gum Tree Medallion.
Every entrant receives a Gum Tree T-shirt.

Northeast Mississippi Habitat for Humanity
Northeast Mississippi Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from Northeast Mississipppi, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people from all walks of life to work together in partnership to help build houses with families in need.
Proceeds from this year's race will go to benefit the Northeast Mississippi Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat 2K
For those not so inclined to go 6.2 miles (10K), Gumtree has added a 1.2 miles (2K) Fun Run/Walk to further promote exercise for the whole family. Every entrant will receive an official Gumtree T-shirt and every finisher will get a Habitat 2K rubber band bracelet.
This year the Chad Payne Memorial Wheelchair event will be in conjunction with the 2K.

Grand Prix
Gumtree 10K, Oxford's double Decker 10K (4/28/07), and Greenville's YMCA Cotton Classic (6/2/07) hve come together to off the top male and top female from all three races cumlativley and extra $5,000. Each race will have a point system: 10 points for 1st place down to 1 point for 10th place. Total points wins the prize.
** In order to qualify, the runner has to compet in all three races
